Privacy Policy

Your privacy, explained.

This notice covers the independent Museums of the Netherlands website and correspondence sent to its publisher. It does not describe the practices of museums mentioned in our articles.

1. Publication and contact.

Publication name: Museums of the Netherlands. For privacy enquiries or requests, use the publisher contact details below. Email is the preferred channel for a written request.

2. What the website itself collects.

The site’s own code does not provide accounts, booking forms, payment forms, newsletter registration, or advertising tracking. You do not need to submit a name, email address, or payment information to read its articles.

The search tool filters the articles in your browser. This feature does not send the search terms to the publisher or to an analytics service. The site’s own code does not store search history in cookies or local storage.

3. Hosting and technical information.

When a browser requests a page or image, the hosting infrastructure necessarily processes technical information such as an IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time. The hosting services may keep operational or security logs or use essential security and session mechanisms. This notice does not claim that infrastructure-level processing or cookies are absent.

Technical processing supports delivery of the website, reliability, and security. Platform-level information, retention, and access controls depend on the hosting services; we do not invent a fixed retention period for logs that this website’s code does not control.

4. Email and telephone correspondence.

If you contact the publisher by email or telephone, we may receive your name, email address, telephone number, message, and other information you choose to provide. We use this information to understand and respond to your enquiry, address an editorial correction or privacy request, and keep necessary correspondence records. Email and telephone service providers may process communications and technical information needed to deliver them. Please provide only information needed for your request.

Correspondence should be kept only for as long as needed for the matter and any applicable legal obligations. It is not intended for advertising profiles or mailing lists. Any material change to these practices should be reflected in an updated notice.

5. Cookies, analytics, and advertising tags.

The website’s own code currently sets no analytics or advertising cookies and includes no Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion, remarketing, or other advertising tags. Hosting services may use essential mechanisms as described above. There is therefore no optional advertising-cookie choice implemented by this version of the site.

If analytics or advertising tags are added, the notice and, where required, the consent controls must be updated before those features are used. Publishing this policy is not itself consent to tracking.

6. Third-party sites.

Some articles cite official collection information on external museum websites. Following an external link takes you to that provider’s website, which has its own privacy practices. We do not control or receive data from those sites merely because they are cited.

7. Your rights and requests.

Depending on applicable law and the circumstances of processing, you may have rights to request information about your personal data, access it, correct it, request deletion or restriction, object to processing, or receive a portable copy. Where processing is based on consent, applicable withdrawal rights should be respected.

Send requests relating to correspondence handled by the publisher to the email contact above. Identify the matter without sharing unnecessary sensitive documents. Requests relating to a hosting platform’s account or independent processing may need to be directed to that platform. You may also contact the relevant data-protection authority where applicable.

8. Changes to this notice.

The date above identifies this version. If the website’s data practices change, this notice should be revised to explain the changes accurately.
